The “double indemnity” in question refers to the plan hatched by Walter and Phyllis (MacMurray and Stanwyck) to kill her husband in a manner that would double the payout on his life insurance policy. I couldn't stop watching it throughout the entire movie, which is quite rare for me, since I get distracted by many things even when a scene comes that is just a little boring.
